Why Kandalore? We feel that Kandalore offers a well rounded camp program for each of our age groups. We provide an ideal balance of camp activities, canoe tripping and social skill development, creating a valuable individual experience for each of our campers. How do I choose a camp? We feel that the best way to pick a camp is to visit while it is in action. You will quickly get a feel for what is going on and whether the children are happy and having fun. We encourage families to visit us the summer before deciding on a camp to ensure that Kandalore is the camp for you. If you can't visit then we suggest you call and ask us as many questions as you feel necessary. We are proud of our program and operations and would be pleased to tell you all about Kandalore!

Our Staff
It is our staff members who make a child's camp stay. Many of our counsellors have progressed up through the ranks from camper to L.I.T. to staff. Our main source for new staff at Kandalore are campers who have successfully completed our L.I.T. program. With the majority of our counsellors having grown up at Kandalore, our staff knows the systems and philosophy of the camp and pass it on to the next generation of campers. Staff hired from outside the Kandalore family are young people who will provide a good role model for our campers and new ideas for our staff. Specific skills in a certain activity can be taught, but the ability to be a good role model and mentor comes naturally. All staff are personally interviewed and must provide a police check as a condition of employment.

Our staff training is an ongoing process. We provide excellent training prior to camp as well as ongoing training during the summer. Our senior staff team is directly involved in the day to day program and is constantly providing encouragement and feedback to the junior staff on their interaction and instruction of our campers. Our formal staff evaluation process reinforces to our staff their areas of excellence and challenges them to improve in areas they need to develop.
